Is 2018 a Great Time to Buy in Miami –or What? (Think of the weather up north)

I’m so excited about the new year and simultaneously thinking of all the people freezing in the northeast who may be hoping to change their lives for the better this year by finally buying a condo in South Florida.

While we’re experiencing a cold spell – with temperatures in the 60s and blustery winds and rain — we are so lucky compared to people dealing with single digit temperatures and below.

The great thing about living in Miami Beach is the fact that you can spend so much more time outside – enjoying nature, walking, skateboarding, biking, swimming, dining at outdoor restaurants, going to art galleries, listening to music — that you feel more alive because you’re so much more active. In addition, there’s the sun factor – the reality that we have longer daylight here than up north, so the days definitely are longer. I still remember coming home after work in New York and dealing with the dark plus cold weather running down the street or heading down the stairs to the subway. It’s dreary, brutal and in many ways debilitating.

By the time you got home with the long commute, you barely had time to change clothes before starting to prepare dinner and unwinding after a long day at work.

Here you feel less pressured and more relaxed about taking a walk before dinner and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

There are condos in all price points: low-priced condos for those looking to buy something for weekend retreats, and of course, Miami Beach luxury houses and condos that just continue to rise in cost as supply declines.

So no matter what your budget is, consider the quality of life issues. Make 2018 a year for you to enjoy life more by spending more time outdoors in a beautiful place like South Florida. You can do it as a snowbird or move here permanently, like I did 11 years ago.

When you’re ready to make the leap, give me a call! I’d be happy to help you find a perfect new home.
